Halloween music and games

A Halloween party can feel exciting without frightening children. Tell us the ages and whether some children prefer to watch first. We adapt the music, games and pace to your group.

Make the invitation clear about the Halloween party you are organising: cheerful dancing in costume, with music and games for the stated ages. Ask parents to choose costumes that let children move and see properly. Dressing up is welcome, but not required to join in.

Tell us about other Halloween activities at the venue. A spooky route or a surprise costumed visitor outside the dance area still affects the child's experience. Agree with the organisers how gentle or spooky the whole afternoon will be.

A programme to build on

For an agreed 60-minute show, an example is: 10 minutes of welcome and easy dances, 15 minutes of freeze dance as statues, a 5-minute drink break, 20 minutes of dancing and requests, and 10 minutes to finish together. This is a suggestion; the DJ adapts it to the group and booked duration.

Use the sample programme as a starting point for your enquiry. Say which activities you will organise and which you expect from the DJ. A costume parade, treats or photos take time too. Agree beforehand whether they fit within the booked show or should be scheduled separately.

Younger and older children

For ages 4–6, keep instructions short and familiar: move like a friendly pumpkin or freeze like a statue. Ages 7–10 may enjoy a dance challenge and song requests. With mixed ages, alternate activities and let children watch quietly if they prefer. Nobody has to join anything they find too scary.

What to prepare

Agree with parents or the parent committee who supervises and collects the children. Keep the dance floor and exits clear, choose costumes that allow easy movement and provide a quiet spot. Discuss group size, space, electricity and any extras in advance. Lights, sound, setup and pack-down are part of the DiscoShow; blacklights, face paint and decorations are not automatically included.

A disco can take place at home, in a hall or outdoors if the space, power and weather protection are suitable. Describe your venue in the request so we can check the setup.
