Choosing a hall for a children’s party: questions to ask

A hall can give you more room, but an attractive photograph does not tell you whether it suits your party. Check the layout and arrangements before reserving it.

Look at usable space

Ask to see the room with its tables and chairs. Food, coats and equipment all reduce the free area. Identify separate places for dancing, eating and a quiet seat. Keep routes to doors and toilets clear.

Check that children can move between the table and activity without passing cables or equipment. A simple floor plan with measurements and a photo from the entrance can help your entertainment provider assess the room.

Separate party time from hire time

Write down four times: access for organisers, guests arriving, collection and final departure after clearing up. You need time before and after the party itself. For a DiscoShow, agree on setup and packing away before finalising the timeline.

Ask specifically about music

Is amplified music allowed? Is another group using the room next door? Is there a sound limiter, and may the DJ bring equipment? Let the venue and provider discuss technical details directly if necessary.

“Parties are allowed” is not enough information. Describe the activity, ages and group size so the venue can give a relevant answer.

Questions for your visit

  • Which furniture may be moved, and must it be put back?
  • Can you bring your own food and drinks?
  • Where do coats go and where are parents welcomed?
  • Which entrance is available for unloading?
  • Who handles cleaning, and what must you do yourself?
  • Who can help if something does not work on the day?

Check the accessibility your guests need, too. Steps, thresholds and toilets on another floor may not appear in photographs.

Compare the complete arrangement

Compare access times, usable space, furniture, food rules and additional costs rather than just the basic hire price. Write the agreements down and have the venue confirm them before sending invitations.

To assess a show, send measurements, layout photos and music arrangements with your Kinderdisco.nl enquiry. Read how the show works, then use the disco timetable to arrange arrival, food and collection around it.
